Early Beginnings
The Art Guild of Ponce Inlet, a nonprofit organization, was started in 1989. Mary Steen invited a few enthusiastic artists of the area to meet on Tuesday afternoons at the Community Center, 4760 S. Peninsula Drive, Ponce Inlet, to paint, share ideas, friendship and art appreciation, as well as to exhibit their paintings at the Community Center. In 1992 the organization was incorporated and is now know as "The Art Guild of Ponce Inlet, Inc."
General meetings start at 1:30 P. M. At the Community Center on the fourth Tuesday of the month. After the business meeting there is an educational art program, then refreshments.
Art Shows
In April 1992 a one-day Fine Arts Show was held at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Park on South Peninsula Drive. It was such a success that it was decided to make it an annual two-day show. The 13th annual show was held in March 2005. In 2006 the show was turned over to the Town of Ponce Inlet and the News-Journal. They have promised to keep the same format; that is, two-dimensional fine art only.
A second show began on the second week November 2002 at the Community Center by the members of the Art Guild of Ponce Inlet. They are open to the public with no admission charge.
